According to the Universidad Torcuato Di Tella’s monthly survey, confidence in the government fell by 2.8% MoM to 47.9% in January. At the start of the year, the index stands marginally below the Milei administration’s average, but still above Macri's and Alberto Fernández's after two years in office.

Broad-based decline across all components. The "general evaluation of the government" fell by 2.6% MoM, while "concern for the general interest" fell by 1.5%. The "efficiency in the management of public expenditure" decreased by 3.9%. Moreover, the "ability to solve the country's problems" fell by 1.7% and the "honesty of public officials" decreased by 3.6%.
Our take: Support for the Milei administration remains high despite the recent drop. The focus now turns to February, as President Milei has called for extraordinary sessions to debate the labor reform, the Glacier Law, and the Mercosur-European Union Agreement. The next Government Confidence Index is scheduled for release on February 23.
