Itaú’s Player’s Bank launches free account for young people under 18

The Start account is aimed at 14 to 17-year-old gamers and offers benefits such as a balance with automatic 100% CDI yield and customer service via Discord; the product democratizes banking access and stimulates the financial education of the young public

São Paulo August 24 – Player’s Bank, Itaú Unibanco’s free digital account aimed at gamers, now has a product designed especially for the 14 to 17-year-old public: the Start account, which will give these teenagers the opportunity to start managing their financial lives. The solution is free of charge and offers a balance with a 100% yield on CDI (reference used to determine the yield on fixed income), transfers via Pix, and payment of bills. Gamers can get support via Discord (communication channel used by gamers) and access to exclusive offers from the Player’s Club, such as discounts on Xbox Game Pass or the Mibr e-sports team store. To give more security to the first steps of young people’s banking life, the Start Account has a maximum daily transaction limit of R$ 300 and a maximum monthly transaction limit of R$ 2,000. Soon, customers will also have the possibility of using a virtual card, in which the user can use the product in delivery or streaming, but using the balance of his account.

The product integrates the various solutions offered by Player’s Bank for gamers, launched in early 2022 and that has been built with the collaboration of exponents of the electronic games and e-sports scene in the country. The goal is to understand the needs and desires of this audience for the co-creation of relevant financial products and services.

Besides the Start account, the solution already offers, for people over 18, a balance with automatic yield of 100% of the CDI and aggressive cashback on credit, first level support via Discord, and the Player’s Bank Mastercard LoL Esports card. As of June, the Player’s Bank has received more than 1 million registrations.

The Start Account will cater to a large portion of the gamer community, since, according to the May 2022 Gamer Brasil survey, most Brazilian gamers are between the ages of 16 and 29. The launch of the account for young people under 18 is another step in the construction of the Player’s Bank ecosystem, as explained by Itaú’s Head of Digital Products and Partnerships, Ricardo Scussel. “The gamer universe has its own demands and identity. Starting the banking life uniting the passion of gamers for games and the financial solutions offered by Conta Start is only possible because we are always co-creating products and services with our audience. It is the bank that plays along”, says Scussel.
