New Spending Control in Itaú’s Superapp reinforces the bank’s role as a partner in organizing clients’ finances
Functionality is available to 100% of current account clients. The app helps organize expenses automatically and intuitively, as well as setting limits and sending personalized alerts, to make financial management simpler and smarter.
São Paulo, March 24, 2025 – According to a survey by Box1824, 97% of the Brazilian population have had difficulties managing their personal finances. This reality highlights the importance of solutions that bring clarity and practicality to everyday financial life, allowing more people to keep track of their spending and to plan more safely. It is precisely for this purpose that Itaú Unibanco is launching the Spending Control feature in its Superapp, which is now available to all the bank’s clients who have the most up-to-date version of the app on their Android or iOS systems. With this, Itaú is taking another step to support its clients in organizing their finances and achieving a healthier relationship with money.
Defined as an automatic expense centralizer, the new feature organizes and monitors spending on both current accounts and credit cards, offering a simple and intuitive view for those looking to better understand the path of their own money. Without the need for external spreadsheets, manual notes or data entry, the tool automatically categorizes expenses and allows you to monitor, in real time, how your budget is progressing in different areas of your routine.
In other words, by accessing Spending Control, clients can see the distribution of their monthly expenses in different categories, such as Markets, Restaurants, Delivery, Transportation by app, Gas Stations and even Small Expenses – a space created to group together smaller expenses, such as a daily coffee or one-off purchases that, when added together, can make a difference to the family budget at the end of the month.
“Today, a large part of the population spends more than or the same as what they receive, and this ends up becoming a point of attention for everyone’s future planning. That’s why we believe that the bank should be a partner in making this day-to-day routine with money healthier. With a more organized financial experience for our clients, we become that consulting agent who helps them plan, transforming their relationship with the bank into a more interactive experience. Spending Control is another step in this direction, facilitating financial management and encouraging more conscious decisions by our clients,” says João Araújo, Director of Business, Platforms and Digital Experiences at Itaú Unibanco.
In addition to an overview of spending, the tool allows you to create personalized controls with which you can set limits on how much you want to spend in each category throughout the month. From then on, the Superapp takes on the role of monitoring and sends notifications whenever spending approaches or exceeds the stipulated amount.
If the limits proposed by the user are not exceeded, the client can still transfer the money they have saved to ‘Cofrinhos’, a Superapp tool that makes it possible to create reserves for any purpose, allocating resources of any amount (starting at R$1) and creating personalized goals focused on needs in a practical and safe way, with a yield of 100% of the CDI every working day.
Among the differentials of Control of Expenses are the simplicity of the experience, with more than 90% approval among users who already used the functionality in the testing phase, and the ease with which expenses can be viewed without the need for external tools. The new feature is part of a set of solutions that consolidate the Itaú Superapp as a complete environment for those looking not only to move money around, but also to plan, monitor and evolve financially. “By offering constant support and applied intelligence, the tool is positioned as a fundamental part of our goal of being a benchmark in financial management in Brazil,” adds João.
