Historical series Itaú Unibanco is included in the 2024 portfolio of two important corporate sustainability indexes in Brazil and in the world.
December 2023 – Itaú Unibanco, Latin America’s largest private bank, has been selected as part of the 2024 portfolio of two corporate sustainability indexes: the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index (DJSI World), and the B3 Corporate Sustainability Index (ISE), for the 24th and 19th consecutive years respectively, demonstrating the consistency of its ESG strategy.
The DJSI World, indexed to the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), is a benchmark for investors. It was created in 1999 and its questionnaire is periodically updated to reflect the market demands on topics linked to economic, governance, environmental, climate and social issues. At the end of the assessment, it provides specific feedback on management and transparency areas for improvement, setting the tone for actions that companies should prioritize.
The current portfolio has 321 leading global sustainability companies. These companies represent 25 economic sectors in 32 countries in the Americas, Europe, Asia, Africa, and Oceania. Of these, only 8 are Brazilian and 27 are from the banking sector. Itaú Unibanco is the only Latin American bank to have been selected to the portfolio of this important sustainability index uninterruptedly since its creation.
B3’s Corporate Sustainability Index (ISE) supports investors in their investment decision making processes and encourages companies to adopt the best sustainability practices. Created in 2005 by B3, ISE reflects the return on a portfolio composed of shares of companies with the best performance in different dimensions that measure corporate sustainability. It is a tool for analyzing the performance of companies listed on B3 in terms of corporate sustainability.
The first preview of the 19th ISE B3 portfolio includes 78 companies from 36 sectors. The official portfolio will become effective on January 2, 2024.
As well as being included in the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index (DJSI World) and the B3 Corporate Sustainability Index (ISE), Itaú Unibanco also participates in the Bloomberg Gender-Equality Index (GEI), the B3 Diversity Index (IDIVERSA B3) and the B3 Carbon Efficient Index (ICO2 B3).
Participation in these indexes reflects Itaú Unibanco’s long-term commitment to sustainability, combining its tradition in these areas and its diligent work in integrating ESG trends into its business.
