Itaú Unibanco integrates the 2023 portfolio of two of the main corporate sustainability indexes, in Brazil and worldwide

The bank was selected for the 23rd consecutive year to make up the portfolio of the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index (DJSI World), standing out with the best performance among Brazilian financial institutions to make up the index; In Brazil, it was selected for the 18th time for B3’s Corporate Sustainability Index (ISE)

December 2022 – Itaú Unibanco, the largest private bank in Latin America, was selected to be part of two of the main corporate sustainability indexes for 2023, the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index (DJSI World), and the Corporate Sustainability Index (ISE) of B3, respectively, for the 23rd and 18th consecutive years, which demonstrates the consistency of its ESG agenda.

In this edition of the DJSI World, Itaú Unibanco was the institution with the best score among domestic banks, and the sixth-best rated among banks worldwide. In addition, for more than two decades in this portfolio, Itaú Unibanco is the only Latin American bank to have been part of this important sustainability index uninterruptedly since its creation in 1999.

The DJSI World, indexed to the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), is a benchmark for investors: the index is made up of 332 leading global sustainability companies, representing 13% of the top-rated companies in economic, environmental, and social factors among the 2,480 that submitted their responses for evaluation. These 332 companies are representative of 24 economic sectors in 32 countries in the Americas, Europe, Asia, Africa, and Oceania. Among them, only 8 are Brazilian, and 25 are from the banking sector.

Itaú Unibanco was also selected to make up B3’s Corporate Sustainability Index (ISE) portfolio for the 18th consecutive year. Created in 2005 by B3, the ISE reflects the return on a portfolio composed of shares of companies with the best performance in different dimensions that measure corporate sustainability. It is a tool for comparative analysis of the performance of companies listed on B3 under the aspect of corporate sustainability.

For Renato Lulia Jacob, the bank’s Investor Relations and Market Intelligence director, “Participation in these indices reflects Itaú Unibanco’s long-term commitment to sustainability, by combining our tradition in this agenda with assiduous work to integrate ESG trends into our business.”
