Itaú Unibanco improves Superapp experience with new Security Hub

The system centralizes all the security resources offered by the bank, fostering autonomy, awareness and practical tools to prevent scams and fraud

São Paulo, September 2024 – In a new move focused on customer experience, Itaú Unibanco announces the launch of a new space in its Superapp: the Security Hub, an area that brings together all the information and functionalities offered by the bank to its customers to ensure protection against and prevention of scams and financial fraud. With this new feature, Itaú reinforces the value proposition of its Superapp: to provide simplified, autonomous and conscious management of finances, safely and through a fluid digital experience.

“With the Security Hub, the customer has greater visibility of all the protection and prevention resources made available by the bank, in a simple and accessible way. The new experience allows customers to customize security tools for their protection, as well as raising awareness of the importance of technology as an ally in the fight against scams and fraud. This is another step towards guaranteeing an even safer, simpler and more autonomous banking experience,” says Adriano Volpini, Director of Corporate Security at Itaú Unibanco.

The innovation emphasizes security as a fundamental pillar for Itaú. Through technological resources and new functionalities, the Security Hub consolidates the bank as a benchmark in security not only in the banking sector, but in the market in general. The unification of functions, with hyper-personalized journeys and humanized service, is indicative of the transformations that Itaú has been promoting for its customers, looking at their day-to-day needs, and making the app simpler and more practical.

“Itaú’s Superapp delivers different banking functions on a single platform, with a focus on hyper-personalization. The incorporation of the Security Hub into the app is yet another movement towards facilitating the banking experience, with the centralization of information in a complete, simple and secure environment. For us at Itaú, security is also about experience, and our goal is to deliver the solutions that best meet our customers’ needs,” adds João Araújo, Director of Business, Platforms and Digital Experiences at Itaú Unibanco.

The Security Hub is available in the Itaú Superapp and the Itaú Empresas app. Highlights include:

1. Location: Using location data to identify cases of potential fraud with greater precision.

2. iToken and Authorized Device: An exclusive protection mechanism that guarantees maximum security for transactions in the application.

3. Facial recognition: An identity confirmation feature for a safer experience.

4. Password and access settings: A set of functionalities for configuring access to the bank’s digital channels, consulting, and changing or recovering passwords;

5. Card functionalities: Easy-to-access options for managing virtual cards, setting up digital wallets, and temporary or emergency blocking of cards or specific card functionalities. Volpini stresses that the Security Hub also offers active support in times difficulty after incidents have occurred, such as a fraudulent transaction. “In the event of an atypical situation, it is essential that customers contact the bank’s official channels to report the case and, if they are a scam or fraud victim, file a police report with the authorities,” he concludes.
