Itaú Unibanco introduces Scope, a new agnostic EFT solution connected to the entire market
The product strengthens the payment sector for retail, with a strategy focused on providing security, stability, and differentiated support
São Paulo, February 2026 – Itaú Unibanco presents Scope to the market, an agnostic electronic funds transfer (EFT) solution connected to the entire market, distinguished by its security, stability, and customer service features. This launch marks the bank’s investment in the payment ecosystem, offering another alternative in a sector that is essential for retail.
Suitable for operations of all sizes, from small establishments to large networks, EFT is considered the backbone of integrated payments in physical retail, as it connects the point of sale to the financial system and enables integration with management systems and digital platforms, automatic reconciliation, and a unified business view. The solution offers greater stability and security at the time of payment, as well as unified operational control and improved fee negotiations with multiple agents. Present in large networks with high transaction volumes and multiple tills, it provides an important advantage with centralised management and acceptance of more than 500 brands.
Scope will operate independently, with agnostic performance. “This autonomy ensures the freedom to integrate with acquirers, banks, and software partners, expanding options for the market without creating competitive barriers, reinforcing our commitment to technical excellence. This move responds to a demand from the market itself – especially from software houses and major retailers – for a new EFT alternative that meets their needs, strengthening retail with more robust and interoperable solutions,” explains Angelo Russomanno, director of payments for corporate clients at Itaú Unibanco.
The commitment to ensuring the solution improves the EFT offering across the market, investing in a value proposition that connects the involved parties, led to the establishment of an independent company, Conexão Tech. Created from the acquisition of NCR Brasil’s software assets last year, it operates with its own brand, headquarters, and governance (a model already approved by Administrative Council for Economic Defense, CADE in Portuguese), and has more than 60,000 integrated points of sale.
Technology is an important component of Scope – with a robust cloud-oriented architecture that allows greater flexibility, control, and resilience, ensuring seamless integration and availability at the point of payment. The goal is to provide security, stability, intelligence, and confidence to everyone in the payment ecosystem, so their business never stops . “What sets us apart is the combination of robustness, flexibility, and technical support. We have an operation based on high security, with fraud protection and transaction integrity; stability, with high availability and performance on the shop floor; and specialized technical support with operational proximity,” explains Rudolf Popper, head of Conexão Tech.
Challenges and modernization
Despite being a robust payment solution – and responsible for around 35% of card payment flows in the market, EFT still presents significant challenges for retailers. Implementation requires complex integration between POS systems, software, and secure infrastructure. Dependence on a stable internet connection, the need for supplier-dependent updates, and less mobility compared to modern solutions are also critical points – in addition to the lack of an effective market offering with day-to-day support.
The proposal with Scope is precisely to address many of these issues and support the market by offering a robust solution, with architecture available for expansion and specialized, constant, and close technical support for retailers. “The greatest risk for retail is system unavailability at the time of sale. Our aim is precisely to guarantee operations and modernize the entire EFT platform. We want to be recognized as the largest and best EFT platform in Brazil, building simple solutions that solve complex challenges,” adds Popper.
For Itaú, the launch of Scope represents a response to sector demand. “We have invested in an essential solution to support the expansion of retail, repositioning EFT as a competitive differentiator. Scope is the answer to a sector calling for renewal. A product born with national reach, technical capacity and investment, freedom of integration, and a culture focused on meeting the real needs of businesses – with autonomy and independence to serve the entire market and integrated with commercial automations. With it, we ensure that our clients and the entire ecosystem have a viable and reliable alternative, in a sector that is strategic for companies,” concludes Russomanno.
