Itaú Empresas is the first bank to offer Pix using Guaranteed Account for small and medium-sized businesses

The new solution is a market pioneer and allows clients to make Pix transfers using the Overdraft Account limit, providing greater flexibility in the payment journey for SMBs.

São Paulo, August 2025 – Itaú Empresas (Itaú Businesses, in Portuguese) customers can now use Pix (Central Bank of Brazil’s instant payment system) to make transfers using the available credit in their Conta Garantida (Guaranted Account, in Portuguese). With this, small and medium-sized businesses can increase their financial margin and make immediate payments – where the amount is instantly credited to the recipient’s account, but the paying company only pays when it can, using the pre-approved credit limit to transfer the full Pix amount or combine it with the current account balance. The solution is already available to eligible business customers.

The Conta Garantida is a credit solution with differentiated conditions, allowing customers to use the available limit and pay at the best time for business. Pix using Overdraft Account – a first on the market – arrives to make SME payments more flexible, offering a faster experience for using the credit limit – in less than 35 seconds – in an intuitive, secure, and integrated way with the Pix journey.

By using the payment option with available credit limit, the payer can settle the amount at the best time. It’s possible to pay the total amount at once or pay gradually, without a pre-established installment plan – which can be extremely important for businesses facing seasonality or to ensure payments are made on time when there’s a mismatch in receivables.

“Pix has already established itself as an essential tool in the financial daily life of Brazilians and is increasingly relevant as a way for businesses to pay and receive. One of the main challenges for these entrepreneurs, however, is maintaining cash flow predictability. Pix using Overdraft Account at Itaú arrives in an unprecedented way to meet this demand with agility, offering a practical solution to keep payments up to date, according to each business’s financial reality. Our customers will be able to reap the benefits of timely payment, especially when negotiating with suppliers, and improve their liquidity since they can use the available credit in the Overdraft Account,” says Michel Cury, Director of Products for Business Clients at Itaú Unibanco.

Unlike “Pague parcelado com Pix,” (Pay in Installments with Pix, in Portuguese) also offered by Itaú Empresas, which allows companies to make payments via Pix and pay in installments using the credit limit, Pix using Overdraft Account is aimed at SMBs that do not want or cannot commit to paying installments, making it ideal for those who do not know when they will receive payments but need liquidity and want to keep cash flow balanced. Both are part of the Pix usage journey, allowing clients to choose which mode to use at the time of payment, seamlessly integrated into their usage context – which also saves them time.

“We develop our solutions to address our clients’ main needs, facilitating their payments and receivables – of which the Pix ecosystem is an important part. The integration of these journeys came from a vision centered on the needs of businesses that truly use the overdraft account for payments – and with this new feature, will save time in their payments,” says Angelo Russomanno, Director of Payments for Business Clients at Itaú Unibanco.

The new solution strengthens and expands the Pix solutions ecosystem at Itaú Empresas, making it even more complete for SMBs and intensifying the bank’s innovation agenda focused on flow solutions for business clients. Itaú also already provides “Pay in Installments with Pix” and “Pix by proximity” for companies since 2024 and, in June this year, began offering “Pix Automatic.” The payment conditions and fees for Pix using Overdraft Account vary according to the client’s profile and can be simulated in the Itaú Empresas app.
