Companies gain efficiency in recurring collections with Automatic Pix, Itaú Unibanco reports

Settled volume grows 281% in 2026; a mobility-sector case shows effectiveness 22 percentage points above the previous recurring-payment model.

São Paulo, September 2026 – Just over a year after the launch of Automatic Pix, the feature’s first results are already visible in the figures of companies that have adopted it. At Itaú Unibanco, the financial volume settled through the solution grew 281% in the first half of 2026 compared with the second half of 2025, while the customer base that approved recurring payments increased 185% over the same period. The advance marks a new stage for Automatic Pix, as adoption moves beyond experimentation and begins to generate measurable efficiency gains in recurring collections.

Launched by the Central Bank in June 2025, Automatic Pix was created to enable recurring charges through the Pix infrastructure, simplifying the experience for payers and recipients. It emerged in a context in which recurring collections still involved varied routines and arrangements with different banks, requiring significant integration efforts from recipient companies. By automating this journey, the solution creates opportunities for operational efficiency and greater cash-flow predictability.

In Itaú’s assessment, as the first bank to put a customer into production with the feature, its evolution marks a new stage of transformation in which automation of financial journeys becomes increasingly relevant for companies seeking operational efficiency, cash-flow predictability, scalability in collection processes and lower late-payment rates.

“When Automatic Pix entered the market, we mainly talked about potential. Today, we have data and evidence showing how the solution can create value. The indicators show that the discussion has moved beyond experimentation and is now entering a scaling phase, with concrete impacts on financial efficiency, delinquency and revenue management. During this first cycle, we observed strong engagement from companies: several have already implemented the feature or are adapting to incorporate it, demonstrating that the perceived value goes beyond incremental adoption,” says Angelo Russomanno, Director of Receivables and Acquiring at Itaú Unibanco.

The results demonstrate benefits projected since launch, including higher payment compliance, reduced operational effort and greater cash-flow predictability. According to Itaú data, Automatic Pix achieves approximately 90% effectiveness in settled payments and has already delivered gains of more than 20 percentage points in payment compliance, providing greater clarity about future receipts, reducing capital pressure from delays and increasing conversion of expected revenue into revenue actually received.

Success story

Among the cases implemented by the bank, a mobility company already records collection effectiveness 22 percentage points above the recurring products it previously used. The result led the company to migrate fully to Automatic Pix and stop offering automatic debit to its customers.

“This case stands out because the payer base was already accustomed to recurring collections. The gain did not come from migrating one-off payments, but from replacing one automated model with another. This shows that there is still efficiency to capture even in operations that considered the issue resolved,” says Russomanno.

Lessons, challenges and opportunities

Experience accumulated during the first year of implementation produced relevant lessons about factors that accelerate use and benefits. Companies with more modern technology structures tend to integrate more quickly and capture results sooner. The payer journey also proved decisive: communication and engagement strategies play an important role in increasing acceptance rates and consolidating recurring payments.

The data also point to significant growth opportunities. Healthcare, education and condominiums, for example, concentrate a large volume of recurring payments but remain at an early stage of adoption, making them key expansion vectors for the coming years. “Automatic Pix simplifies journeys, increases cash-flow predictability and reduces the historical complexity, costs and operational efforts associated with recurring collections. We believe this movement is still at an early stage and has significant room to scale,” Russomanno adds.

For Itaú, the first-year results reinforce the view that Automatic Pix can redefine recurring-payment management in Brazil by combining user convenience with measurable gains in efficiency, payment compliance and scalability. As more companies advance their integrations and more consumers become familiar with the model, current gains in effectiveness, automation and financial predictability are expected to become increasingly representative across different sectors.
