Itaú Unibanco launches Itaú Pay, a new payment method that harnesses the strength of its ecosystem to simplify online purchases and drive e-commerce sales
The solution debuts with Decolar and enables clients to pay for online purchases directly through the Itaú super app, without sharing card details. It also offers extended installments, additional credit limits and payment with points. For businesses, the bank estimates an increase of up to 10 percentage points in purchase approval rates, as well as higher sales and an average ticket up to 50% larger.
São Paulo, October 2026 – Itaú Unibanco is launching Itaú Pay, a new payment method for e-commerce checkout. It allows Itaú clients to pay for online purchases directly through the bank’s app, without entering card details, by choosing between their account balance or credit, with the option of extended installments. For businesses, the solution combines Itaú’s client base and lending capacity with Rede’s payment infrastructure to approve more transactions, increase sales, simplify processes and reduce fraud-related costs.
By integrating banking and acquiring, Itaú Pay combines Rede’s market-leading payment infrastructure, client base and presence among the country’s largest e-commerce companies with Itaú’s strength as the largest card issuer and a market leader, as well as its presence among highly engaged clients with strong credit capacity. As a proprietary arrangement, it brings client knowledge, credit offerings, authentication, fraud prevention and payment processing together within the same ecosystem. This integration addresses some of the main causes of lost checkout sales, such as declines triggered by suspected fraud or insufficient limits and lengthy journeys, increasing transaction approval with greater security and lower costs for merchants.
“Checkout is one of the moments when e-commerce businesses lose the most sales: purchases are declined due to suspected fraud or insufficient limits, card details are entered incorrectly, and journeys are too long. Itaú Pay addresses all these issues at once by bringing together the institution that knows the client, the institution that provides credit and the company that processes the payment. It is a combination that only the Itaú ecosystem can deliver,” says Angelo Russomanno, Director of Receivables and Acquiring at Itaú Unibanco.
For businesses, Itaú Pay combines conversion and efficiency gains across the entire payment journey. Bank estimates indicate a potential increase of up to 10 percentage points in transaction approval rates, while extended installment options may also contribute to an increase of up to 50% in the average purchase amount. The solution makes checkout up to five times faster, with fewer screens, clicks and app switches.
Authentication and risk analysis carried out within the bank’s environment also eliminate fraud-related chargeback costs and the need to contract multiple protection tools. In addition, Itaú Pay offers simplified integration for businesses through ready-to-use components, reducing technical complexity and accelerating go-live. Businesses that already use Rede for e-commerce have an even simpler implementation process.
For consumers, Itaú Pay simplifies the journey and expands payment options. Purchases are confirmed directly in the Itaú app, without the need to provide card details to the store or copy codes, and clients can choose between their account balance or credit, viewing the conditions and total amount before confirmation. For eligible clients, the solution also offers extended installment options in addition to those made available by the store, as well as the possibility of an additional purchase limit and payment with points. By reducing friction in the journey and expanding payment alternatives, these benefits also increase the likelihood of purchase completion and generate more sales for businesses.
“We want clients to shop securely and conveniently, with terms that suit their circumstances. By providing offers based on each client’s profile and transparency regarding the total amount before confirmation, Itaú Pay expands purchasing power, including for higher-value transactions,” says Felipe Piccoli, Director of Cards, Accounts and Payments at Itaú Unibanco.
Decolar – Latin America’s leading travel tech company and part of the Prosus ecosystem – is the initiative’s first partner company. “At Decolar, we work to democratize access to travel by expanding options and developing solutions that meet the needs of every traveler. To achieve this, we seek to offer a wide variety of destinations and services, simplify the purchasing process and provide alternatives suited to different circumstances. Our partnership with Itaú supports this direction by incorporating new payment options and giving our clients greater flexibility. Through technology and innovation, we continue to make every stage of the journey easier and bring more people closer to travel opportunities,” says Lucas Tavolaro, Director of Strategy at Decolar.
The experience will be expanded in the coming weeks and, over the following months, Itaú Pay will become available at other e-commerce companies, including Raia Drogasil, Localiza, Zig and EBANX, a payment platform that connects global companies with consumers in digital markets across more than 20 countries. The solution is also launching with Yuno, an AI-native intelligence system for global payments and financial services, as a partner to simplify and accelerate merchant integration.
