Weekly Elections Monitor – An overview of state government elections

octubre 16, 2018

We detail the results of the first round and the second round polls, when available, for the elections of each Brazilian state

(full report attached)

According to the most recent Ibope poll, Jair Bolsonaro (PSL) leads with 59 % of valid voting intentions, while Fernando Haddad (PT) has 41 %. Their rejection rates stand at 35 % and 47 %, respectively. With these new observations, we updated our model of votes in the first round minus rejection versus votes in the second round, introduced in the commentary (link) from September 26. Now, Bolsonaro appears in the upper right quadrant, while Haddad appears in the lower left quadrant.

On October 28, voters from 14 states and the federal district are expected to go to the polls to voice their votes to state governor candidates. Below, we detail the results of the first round and the second round polls, when available, for the elections of each Brazilian state.

This week, we will have the release of a new election poll Datafolha, from Thursday (18) onwards. In addition, the Paraná Pesquisas and Datapoder360 institutes are also due to publish new research, on Wednesday (17) and Thursday (18), respectively.
